Sphere Distort

Next time you want to make a game with small planets, save some time and effort from modeling scenery around a sphere. Sphere Distort takes regular Cartesian meshes and wraps them around the surface of a sphere. Now you can recycle some models from your non-spherical projects.

Check it out on the Unity Asset Store.

  1. hello,

I interested to buy your asset.

And also I would like to asking you a question. Can it be apply with gravity for walk around the bending object without falling down, ex. in first person character? I’m newbie for unity so thank you in advance if you can explain me in detail.

    Thank you so much!

    1. Unfortunately, Sphere Distort is strictly a tool for modifying meshes, so it does not (currently) include a gravity-switching character controller. You can get the gravity direction vector by normalizing the difference in position between the small planet’s center and the player. You would then scale it according to the strength of gravity and apply as a force. This script from the wiki might be a good place to start, but I think I could make a better gravity-switching character controller, so I’m going to play around with it this weekend and probably post it as a free package. Thanks for your interest, and I’ll try to get back to you with that character controller as soon as possible!

      1. Thank you so much for that. Im looking forward to see if it work with gravity so I can walk on my object (or terrain if it possible??). I could be really helpful for my school project so please let me know.

        Best!

  2. Hi!

Hope this find you well. I m planning to buy your asset today (or maybe tomorrow). Just wanna ask you that have you figure it out my issue or do you have anything that I have to know more?

    Thank you! 🙂

    1. Sorry, the creating the character controller for small planets is taking longer than expected, and some things came up this past weekend. I am making progress though, and should have something up in the next couple days.
